BEARSPACE is pleased to present an exciting solo exhibition by Olly Fathers with a mix of new work that reflects his cool, contemporary style combined with a love of architecture, colour and shape. He translates this through uniquely crafted wall based sculptures in beautifully assembled contrasting wooden forms, stunning original collages, assembled relief block paintings & floating installation. This is accompanied by a series of A4 collages which playfully bring these elements together through a graphic interplay.
Olly Fathers uses simple geometric shapes and forms to create visually stimulating works that intend to play with space and take the viewer on a visual journey. Fathers uses a variety of materials, assembling them in different ways to make works that reference a variety of inspirations from Architecture, design, culture including early computer technology and graphics but also Bauhaus & the Memphis design movement. His exhibition demonstrates the fun the artist has in creating these works, the creation of these works is very much in the process of making. Fathers sees them almost like a puzzle that he works on until they feel complete.
Olly Fathers has had an exciting ten year career since graduating from Wimbledon College of Art from BA in painting in 2010. In 2018 he exhibited as part of the Saatchi Gallery, ‘Harder Edge’ & ‘Micromegas’ exhibition. In a prestigious commission in 2019 he was selected to create an ITV Creates Ident. He was also invited to create the Jealous Gallery Rooftop mural showing the great versatility of the artist and his work!
BEARSPACE is thrilled to have Olly showing his work which we feel suits the space and ethos of the gallery perfectly.
